Bermuda footballer Willie Clemons has reflected on his goal-scoring exploits in Leiston’s 1-0 win at home to Worcester City in the Southern League Premier Division Central at the weekend.

The midfielder, who was named player of the match, struck in the third minute to seal the victory, which leaves the Suffolk side tenth in the standings.

In a video interview, Clemons, 31, said: “Happy Saturday, right. Sun is out, and we have three points – a good day.

“We knew it was going to be a tough in one based on how they played [in the reverse fixture].

“We knew it was going to be a physical battle and would have to do that part first.

“We had confidence in our ability to set ourselves up in a certain way.

“We executed the game plan as we would have liked.”

Reflecting on his winner, Clemons added: “I tried to be a nuisance and stand in the box where people don’t want me to be.

“I saw the ball come across and I just threw something at it.”

Clemons signed for Leiston from Felixstowe & Walton last summer.
