Six students from Dalton Tucker Primary School have been introduced to golf thanks to a new initiative led by MP Kim Swan, with support from James Robinson of Cactus Limited and facilities from Newstead Belmont Hills and Port Royal Golf Course.

A spokesperson said, “Thanks to James Robinson, founder and CEO of Cactus Limited, whose initial donation spawned this golf initiative for six students from Dalton Tucker Primary School Students to be introduced to the game of golf.

“MP Kim Swan, a school alumnus, has donated his time as a coach, encouraged the 9-year-old students, and cultivated a program outside of the school hours.

“Kim Swan credits Darron Swan of Newstead Belmont Hills and Jason Wade, Chairman of Port Royal Golf Course, for making their facilities and golf equipment available at no charge to students in the program.”

Kim Swan said, “60 years ago I was blessed to be molded by the leadership of Dalton E. Tucker and our school principal.

“That foundation Mrs Tucker’s leadership provided allowed me to have a solid base to go on and make history internationally in golf as a collegiate golfer and leading amateur golfer in Bermuda and overseas who would go on and participate as a member on the PGA European Golf alongside some of the world’s greatest players in the 1970s and 1980s.

“60 years ago, Mrs. Tucker insisted that neighborhood children being raised by a single parents attend Sunday school at her home at 2:30pm … I consider it my duty to copy example and it’s prophetic that on afternoon Sunday, May 1, 2026, I am able to pay forward that example she provided.“
