Public Works Crews To Fill Potholes

April 9, 2026 | 13 Comments

The Ministry of Public Works and Environment is :advising the public that in anticipation of better weather conditions, Public Works crews will be filling potholes tomorrow and through the weekend.”

A Government spokesperson said, “Persistent rainfall has caused a number of potholes to reappear across the road network, and the Ministry is moving to address those areas as conditions allow.

“In preparation for the works, road network assessments will continue throughout the rest of the week so that pothole locations can be identified and marked ahead of the repairs.

“The identified locations will be compiled into a working list for repair teams with follow-up reporting to track completion.

“The Ministry is also reminding motorists to exercise caution, particularly during and after periods of rain, as wet conditions can worsen existing road defects and reduce visibility of potholes.

“Members of the public are encouraged to report potholes by emailing potholes@gov.bm or by using the Government’s GovAlert app.”

The Minister of Public Works and Environment, Jaché Adams said: “The recent rainfall has caused a number of potholes to reopen across the Island, and the Ministry is putting measures in place to respond in a focused and practical way.

“Urgent repairs and assessments are being carried out across the road network during the week so repair teams can move quickly on the identified locations once conditions allow.”

Minister Adams added: “This is about dealing with the immediate problem while also improving how repairs are organised, tracked and completed.

“In the meantime, motorists are urged to take care on the roads, especially in wet weather, and to continue reporting potholes so the Ministry can direct resources where they are most needed.”

  1. the hole truth says:

I cannot count the number of times I have barely escaped certain death while on my motorbike, due to the countless lethal potholes. At any given moment while in traffic, a pothole can suddenly appear from under the vehicle in front of you and you have a split second to swerve to avoid it. In the rain its incredibly dangerous as any puddle you see could be hiding a giant hole that will swallow your bike wheel. I have measured some potholes at half a foot deep. Tourists should not be allowed to rent bikes or electric cars until the potholes are fixed. It is almost guaranteed you will have tourist fatalities otherwise. I hit a minor pothole that was only about 3 inches deep and it rocked the bike so hard I was almost thrown off the bike.

  2. Joe Bloggs says:

The pot holes have appeared because of 2 decades of neglect by the PLP government, according to Lt. Col. Burch.

Can we fill those pot holes with failed politicians?

  3. Steve says:

Potholes will be repotholed within 2 weeks so weekend overtime be available. DO THE JOB ONCE & DO IT PROPERLY.

    • Optics?! says:

I’ve never once seen them the primer or whatever it is. They’re supposed to lay down before putting asphalt off.
Poor workmanship, poor management and poor leadership continue.

  4. Ringmaster says:

The potholes on Crawl were topped up earlier this week, but the fill is now gone are now back and bigger. Several tires have been destroyed recently and it’s a wonder that have been no rollovers or injuries but it’s only a matter of time.

  5. Triangle Drifter says:

Can anyone begin to count the number of times we have seen this headline?

The PLP is the ‘gonna’ Government. They are gonna do this and they are gonna do that. What do we get? All we get is talk. Talk, talk, talk. A committee formed to talk.

If only potholes could be filled with talk.

  6. Mr. Apathy says:

Just imagine how much of our roads could have been fully repaved already with the financial resources that our government has instead chosen to sink into first-class global travel to events that provide no benefit to Bermudians whatsoever…

This is a complete joke at this point.

    • Pure Madness!!! says:

Let’s not forget all the new vehicles they keep buying for everyone, the overpriced consultants and hired out truckers……. Who are being paid more than the workers who fix the roads….. Let that sink in!!!

  7. Question says:

The state of the roads is a continual reminder of what a total abject failure this government is. Even the basics aren’t managed properly.

  8. Hilarious says:

This is a serious question. Is it just possible that those overweight electric buses and overweight Ministerial EVs carrying overweight politicians are exacerbating the damage done to our roads? Comments are encouraged.

  9. Triangle Drifter says:

My guess is that the people at W&E don’t travel the same roads that the rest of us do so they are unaware of the potholes.

They don’t travel South Road, anywhere along it. They don’t use the south roundabout. They don’t use Point Finger Road. They don’t use Rural Hill to the North rondabout. They don’t use Tessies Highway. No, they travel on their own magic carpets paid for by us, the taxpayers

  10. Question says:

I love how they always blame the ‘persistent rain’ rather than just admitting the cause of the potholes is their abject failure as a government.

  11. Gerald says:

You people still calling them potholes? Lol you mean tubholes or craters , nothing will change on this island we are to weak as a people!!!
