U15 Team Defeat Bahamas, Lose To Cayman
Bermuda’s under-15 football team produced a strong final-day showing at the Goombay Cup, defeating hosts the Bahamas 4-1 before narrowly losing 1-0 to eventual champions the Cayman Islands.
Bermuda entered the final day needing victories in both matches to claim the title and responded with an impressive performance against the hosts before pushing the Cayman Islands throughout a closely contested deciding match.

Bermuda’s starting line-up featured Sydney Denkins, Nadia Medeiros, Ki’Ana Simmons, Kiara Deane, Xha-Tore Showers, Marli Robinson, Me’lah Wolffe-Rutherford, Daisy Langley, Harper Franklin, Kierra Broadley-Samuels and Leydi Raynor.
The substitutes were Kyra Simmons, Leyana Williams, Cataliah Pitcher-Place, Phoenix Williams, Riley Khan, Mia DaPonte and Priya Dill.
Bermuda made an encouraging start, taking the lead after five minutes when pressure inside the penalty area resulted in an own goal.
The Bahamas equalised before half-time, with the teams entering the interval level at 1-1.
Bermuda responded immediately after the restart, regaining the lead one minute into the second half through Broadley-Samuels, who scored again three minutes later to put her side firmly in control at 3-1.
Substitute Dill added Bermuda’s fourth goal in the 43rd minute to complete a convincing 4-1 victory.

The Cayman Islands broke the deadlock in the 34th minute with what proved to be the only goal of the match.
Bermuda continued to press for an equaliser but were unable to find a way through the Cayman Islands defence, with the narrow 1-0 result confirming the Cayman Islands as tournament champions.
