Young Cricketers To Compete In Festival In UK
A group of Bermuda’s young cricketers departed today for England to represent FrayStar Cricket Institute at the prestigious King’s College, Taunton Cricket Festival.
A spokesperson said, “Today, Friday, 7th August 2026, some of our young cricketers will depart Bermuda for England to represent FrayStar Cricket Institute at the prestigious King’s College, Taunton Cricket Festival. The team will compete from 10th–15th August before returning home on 18th August 2026.
“For many, this will be their first opportunity to experience cricket outside Bermuda. For all of them, it will be an experience that extends far beyond the boundary.
“At FrayStar Cricket Institute, we firmly believe that true player development extends far beyond Bermuda’s shores. While technical coaching and structured training form the foundation of our programs, exposing young cricketers to higher levels of competition, new environments, and different cultures is an essential part of their growth.
“Our participation in the King’s College, Taunton Cricket Festival is one of the most valuable opportunities we provide our players.
“This opportunity was first introduced last year to us by our good friend and colleague, Neil Speight, who has dedicated many years to creating educational and sporting pathways for Bermuda’s young people. Through his relationship with King’s College, FrayStar has been able to offer an experience that is about far more than cricket.
“During the festival, our players will compete against five teams from different regions, challenging themselves against stronger opposition and experiencing different playing styles and a higher standard of cricket. They will also live in the King’s College boarding houses, build friendships with young people from around the world, experience British culture, and gain a deeper understanding of the commitment required to succeed both on the field and in life.
“Before every tour, we remind our players that this trip is not defined by wins and losses.
“The cricket will be challenging, and that’s exactly why we’re going.
“Our greatest success is measured by the discipline, courage, resilience, respect, teamwork, and character our players display throughout the journey.
“At FrayStar, we constantly reinforce that development is a process, not an event.
“The players travelling have spent years learning that arriving on time, listening, following instructions, respecting officials, encouraging teammates, maintaining focus, and mastering the fundamentals are the habits that separate good players from great ones.
“Bermuda has an abundance of natural cricketing talent, but talent alone is never enough. Even the world’s greatest players continue to practise the basics every single day. Competing against stronger opposition has a remarkable way of humbling young athletes, raising standards, and showing them the next level they must strive to reach.
“We witnessed those lessons during last year’s King’s College Festival, and we’ve continued to see that growth reflected throughout our Emerging Player Program and Holistic Development Program.
“While in England, our players will also visit Millichamp & Hall, one of the world’s premier handcrafted cricket bat manufacturers, where they’ll gain an appreciation for the craftsmanship behind the game. They’ll also tour the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground—the Home of Cricket—a place every young cricketer dreams of visiting.
“These experiences inspire our players, broaden their horizons, and reinforce that cricket is much bigger than any one match.
