We regret to announce the passing of Edith Mae Smith, beloved daughter of the late Emmrita Smith and the late Richard Dickerson in her 84th year of # 8 Broome Street, Sandys MA 02.
A Homegoing service for Edith Mae Smith, loving mother to Linda Joyiens and Kathy Sutton; daughter of the late Emmerita Smith and Richard Dickinson, in her 84th year, of Broome Street, Somerset, will be held at St. James Church on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. James Church Cemetery.
There will be no viewing.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren: Tameisha Smith [Ormon], Lamarr & Jahmari Sutton; great grandchildren: Ajee’, Ojanee’ and Kejee’ Smith, Jahsiy & Raheem Burgess Sutton, Nathaniel, Omar Jaheem & Ahno Sutton; great-great granddaughter A’riaah; brother: Zaki Muhammed [Esther]; sister-in-law Shahidah Salaam; special friends: Everette [Mouse] Outerbridge, Rita Swan, Christine Robinson, Eugene ‘Bob” Smith, Winfield Todd, Barritt Showers and Rudy Sewell; special nieces: Joan May Reasonover, Gloria Smith and Janet “Lee-Lee” Smith; godchildren: Ali Malik, Malika & Manika Smith; adopted grandchildren Orrick Smith and Dawnelle Outerbridge; Smith and Simmons families, Staff of The Reefs Hotel; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
She was predeceased by her sisters: Doreen Caesar, Eula Mears, Viola Smith, Edna Smith & Patricia Basden; brothers: Thomas Smith and El-Amin Salaam; grandson: Omar Sutton; niece: Debra Robinson; nephews: Chris Caesar, Earl, Michael, David, Jahkoby and Johnny Smith. Special thanks to Amis Memorial Chapel, the staff of Lefroy House, Dr. Fiona Ross, Cheryl Joyiens and Shanika Franklin.
