PLP Extends Condolences To Henry Family

May 13, 2014

The PLP has extended condolences following the passing of Mrs. Brennell Henry, a life member of the Progressive Labour Party.

A statement from the Party said, “The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party extends condolences to the family of the late Brennell Henry, a life member of the Party who joined when the Party was in its infancy.

“For many years, Mrs. Henry served as Membership Secretary and it is believed that until her death, was the sole surviving member of the original Central Committee of the Party.”

“Recently Mrs. Henry was honoured by the PLP at the Party’s fiftieth anniversary celebration that was held in November 2013. At that time, Mrs. Henry was given a standing ovation by the Party Leader and others in attendance for her long and dedicated service to the Party.

“Until her illness some years ago, Mrs. Henry rarely missed a Central Committee meeting and could be counted on to serve the Party in various capacities, including providing baked goods for sale to help raise funds.”

“A member of Devonshire Branch, Mrs. Henry, and the late Mrs. Leonie Richards, sister to the late Dame Lois Browne-Evans, were instrumental in the Dame Lois’ success at the polls in 1963. Dame Lois would rarely canvass without her canvassing team of Henry and Richards.”

“Party Leader, Marc Bean said that he was saddened to hear of the news of Mrs. Henry’s passing and recalled how he was proud to have honoured her with a special 50th Anniversary pin on behalf of the Party last November. He offered condolences to her children, grandchildren and other family members.”
