It is with sadness that the family of Mr. Roy Elystan MacArthur Furbert of 25 My Lord’s Bay Lane, Hamilton Parish, announces his peaceful passing at home on August 6, 2025, in his 96th year.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted partner Marianne Penner; his children Romelle Warner [Wilbert] and R. Angelo Furbert [Anna]; his grandchildren Adrian Warner [Rachel], Shakira Warner, Rhiannon Furbert, and Gabriel Furbert; and his great-grandson Miles Brathwaite. He is also survived by his siblings Eloise Furbert and Webster Furbert; niece and nephews in Bermuda and abroad; special family at Centenary and Marsden Methodist Churches; and dear friends Roland Darrell, Onslow Grant, Chris Swan and family, and Craig and Angela Tucker.
Roy was predeceased by his wife Mabel Furbert [née Astwood]; his parents Leopold and Marjorie Furbert [née Darrell]; his brothers Vernon and Shirley Furbert; and his sister Juanita Guishard-Packwood.
A master mechanic by trade, a talented saxophonist, and a dedicated lifelong supporter of the Progressive Labour Party, Roy lived a life of quiet strength, skill, and faith in God.
At his request, the family will honour his life privately. They extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Bermuda Hospitals Board Oncology Department, PALS, EZ Caregiving Services, and Augustus Funeral Home for their compassionate care and support.
