Photos: Bermuda Earth Day Exhibitors
The Bermuda Association of Eco-Clubs [BASEC] held an Earth Day celebration today [April 22]. The day is designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment, and this year is the 40th anniversary of the first Earth Day being held in the US.

Alex Parra and Grace Shelton from Green Glossary. Ms Shelton is the US Consul General to Bermuda, and is actively involved in environmental issues locally.

Below are Heather Goessel, Lyn Llewellyn and Andrew Dobson of the Bermuda Audubon Society, which works to conserve Bermuda’s special bird life and habitats.

Songwriter and singer Val Sherwood, pictured below, performed at the event. A veteran musician, she released her debut CD in 2004 called “Never Tell them Why”, which contains 12 original songs. The CD is available locally at the Music Box, Soundstage and Music World.

A solar batch water heater was on display. As explained to us, under testing it cost 25% less electricity to heat water then a traditional hot water heater. Read more here.

The Bermuda Zoological Society with an exhibit showing their new ‘Flamingo Flocking Fundraiser’, in which you can order a bunch of bright pink flamingos to be placed in people’s gardens or offices, more details here.
