Shooting In Pembroke, 51-Year-Old Man Injured
[Updated: A 51-year-old man was shot at approximately 10.20pm this evening in the Rambling Lane area of Pembroke. The shooting victim is presently listed in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit]
There is a strong police presence tonight [May 22] in a residential area of Pembroke after what we unofficially understand was a firearm incident.
Area residents report hearing what sounded like multiple gunshots. Police have a section in the Rambling Lane area of Pembroke cordoned off with crime scene tape, with multiple officers and vehicles present.
Unofficial reports indicate that one person was injured in this incident. Details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.
Update 11.40pm: Police remain on scene, and we expect to receive an official statement from them shortly.
Update 12.21am: The police have confirmed that one man was shot, and said his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. A video statement from Inspector Emmerson Carrington is below:
Update 1.01am: The police issued a statement saying, “Around 10:20pm on Tuesday, May 22nd police responded to reports of gunshots in the Rambling Lane, Pembroke area.
“As a result it was ascertained that a 51 year old man was shot and injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life threatening at this time.
“The scene has been cordoned off and a full investigation into this incident is underway. Detectives are appealing for any witnesses, particularly anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Rambling Lane area around the time of the shooting, or anyone with any information, to contact the main police number 295-0011.”
Update 8.30am: As of this time, the shooting victim is listed in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The police remain stationed in the area, and the scene is still cordoned off with crime scene tape.
Update 12.06pm: The police released an additional statement, saying one person was seen fleeing from the area, and dark coloured motorcycle was also seen speeding away from the scene around that time.
Around 10:23pm on Tuesday 22nd May 2012, police responded to a report of gunshots being fired and someone being shot and injured outside a residence on Rambling Lane, Pembroke.
Police officers were immediately dispatched to the location to investigate the report. During the initial investigation, police ascertained that one person was seen fleeing from the area, description given as being approximately six feet tall with a slim build. A dark coloured motorcycle was also seen speeding away from the scene around that time.
The victim, a 51 year old Devonshire man, received multiple gunshot wounds to his body and is presently being treated at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for his injuries. At this time his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Rambling Lane, Pembroke area around the time of the incident, or have any information whether they believe it to be important or not to contact the Serious Crime Unit on telephone number 247-1185, or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-TIPS (8477).

Amen! I’m sick of this “sky is falling” panic when there is a shooting. First of all, they are not random shootings! Yes a stray bullet could hit a random person, God forbid, but for the most part these shootings are ‘targeted’.
Should we turn a blind eye, of course not! But violence is all over the world and we should be grateful that we live here because many other places are a lot worse off. Bermuda is still a safe paradise as far as I am concerned.
Yes, Bermuda is a small place and we feel a single shooting a lot harder than say New York City. But for that same reason, we should have faith in the police being able to quickly locate these thugs, and (dare I say) faith in the legal system to quickly prosecute them.

You see, this will then become an endless circle of hate and sin. Think about this when someone has sin against you, then you have the power to stop that circle. GOD has given every one the power to forgive and this power is strong. GOD wants us to love and forgive each other, not hurt and sin against each other. He wants us to enjoy are life’s with each other and become friends. We hurt GOD every day because of sin. STOP hurting others and Forgive those that have sinned against you.
Remember, GOD will FORGIVE you for your sin so why not forgive those that have sinned against you. GOD loves you and he still loves those that have sinned.

Most of the shootings that have happened have nothing to with revenge. Most likely the shooters did not have anything against their victims & were just puppets carrying out orders without emotion. This is the result of drug wars & as with any war there are casualties. A cold heart taken over by evil cannot forgive especially when desensitized by hard drugs.
These evil souls did not start this war they just profit from it our law makers started this war & also profit from it. If these law makers are intelligent enough to realize the nature of the beast they created & feel no way about collecting pay through fines from it then they are just as evil as the killers. That is really bad. How can they go around without their hats and expect to gain the confidence of the public. Hopefully the brass within the police ensures all of them wear their hats in the future. If they had to arrest the shooter without their hat then it would be unlawful.
