Cycling: IBC 2013 Criterium Series Results
78 riders braved torrential rain showers on Sunday [Aug 25] morning in the 4th criterium of the 5-race IBC 2013 Criterium Series. The wet conditions led to a few minor crashes, otherwise the races went off without major incident.
Dominique Mayho returned to local racing after a stint riding in Italy to win the senior race of the day in a very close sprint with Shannon Lawrence [2nd] and Johan Vivier [3rd]. Daren Glasford was the fourth rider in the tight sprint finish.
The only contentious point of the day was the relegation of Kareem Johnson and Vincent Chaves who had finished in first and second position, respectively, in the adult B race. Both riders were relegated [adjusted to finish at the back of their finishing group] following a rule infraction earlier in the race. The relegation is currently the subject of an appeal.
Ian Henderson and Earlena Ingham won the Adult C and Women’s races, respectively. Charlie Pilgrim led home the junior field, but was closely challenged by Tyler Smith who had previously crashed on a tight corner, but who remounted and raced himself back into contention. Malik Joell and Malik Smith won the Junior B and Junior C categories, respectively.
