Videos: Around The Island Powerboat Race
The shorelines were crowded with onlookers on Sunday afternoon [Aug 17] as the 2014 Around the Island Powerboat Race got underway, with no less than $10,000 on the line for the winner, thanks to event sponsor Rubis.
The event’s A Class was topped by Chris Warboys and Steve Sherwin in A30 with a time of 1.28.18, while David Selley and Jordan Fletcher in B8 won the B Class in a time of 57.23.
Steven Eversley and Brandon Franks in D187 finished in 51.53 to take the D Class, while Philip Correia and Joe Viera in PX15 recorded a time of 40.55.

How about a round the island sunfish race?,hobie cat,laser,home made sail boat wooden 17′,scottish crabbers and shrimpers,this should be a regular event,different class vessel each time….but no…..our boat clubs really don’t grasp our heritage seriously enough!
Save that for de non-mariners.
