BILTIR Conference Focuses On Insurance
A major conference focusing on life and annuity reinsurance was held at the Southampton Fairmont Hotel on September 18, bringing together more than 120 attendees for a number of panel discussions on topics relating to the insurance industry.
One of the founding directors and president of the life and annuity association Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers [BILTIR], Chip Gills, said, “We are delighted with the overwhelming response to the conference, with over 120 attendees.”
“The conference had a number of panel discussions on a host of topics, including life reinsurance and mortality risk, variable and fixed annuities, and Bermuda specific financial reporting. We are also extremely pleased with the growth and evolution of life and annuity companies in Bermuda, also known as the Long Term sector.”
A spokesperson said, “The Long Term sector now represents about 30 percent of the Bermuda insurance/reinsurance market. The Association was formed in June 2011 to advocate for the life and annuity industry and to provide a consistent and coherent voice for any concerns of the long-term insurance and reinsurance sector in Bermuda.”
