[Updated] More than 70 seniors will get a little Christmas joy this season when the Age Concern baskets are distributed, with the team effort involving Age Concern, the Bank of Bermuda Foundation, Butterfield & Vallis, Deloitte and CedarBridge students.

Claudette Fleming said; “It was a real team effort through the generosity of a grant from the Bank of Bermuda Foundation, donations from Butterfield and Vallis, Deloitte and the assistance of students from CedarBridge Academy these attractive baskets of food and personal care items were assembled”.

Ms Fleming added, “Every year we like to try something slightly different. We try to be environmentally conscious, this year when the question of packaging came up we challenged the team to find a solution.

“Terri Durrant, from Butterfield & Vallis went out and found the wicker baskets. They hold an ample selection of merchandise and can also be re-used for a variety of purposes and Deloitte contributed the insulated shopping bags.

“Another first this year, was the participation of students from CedarBridge Academy under the supervision of Para-Educator and Work Experience Coordinator, Alicia Zuill, they spent Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning sorting and packing the baskets. Volunteers from Age Concern supervised the distribution of the baskets.
