Football: First, Premier Division Weekend Results

Recent football matches between teams in both the First and Premier divisions saw a total of seven victories added to official standings, including a convincing 11-1 win by the First Division’s Devonshire Colts over the Paget Lions.

First Division

Wolves 0 – Somerset Eagles 1

After a scoreless first half, Tristan Smith scored the lone goal of the game for the visiting Somerset Eagles as they defeated the Wolves 1-0.

Boulevard Blazers 3 – Young Men Social Club 0

At the Police Field, Ian Coke gave the Boulevard Blazers the lead in the 40th minute, with TiaVince Douglas doubling the lead with a goal in the 70th minute

When Makai Young scored from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the 88th minute, it earned the Boulevard Blazers a 3-0 win over the Young Men Social Club.

Paget Lions 1 – Devonshire Colts 11

At the Southampton Oval, the Devonshire Colts got three goals from Lozendro Symonds, two goals from Teniko Eve, and single strikes from Kyle Jones, Quinton Jones, Sean Perinchief, Dominic Lambe, Carlos Trott, and Justin Maybury in their 11-1 win over the Paget Lions.

Dwayne Brangman scored the lone goal for the home team.

X-Road’s 6 – Ireland Rangers 0

At the Garrison Field, Tristan Daniels and Mikael Ming scored two goals each as X-Road’s defeated the Ireland Rangers 6-0. Tymon Daniels and Coshaun Evans added a goal each.

St. David’s 0 – BAA 5

At Lord’s in St. David’s, visiting BAA defeated St. David’s 5-0. BAA’s goals came from Morricko Iris, Troy Tucker, Jair Minors, LaQuan Thomas, and Ramsay Saggar.

Premier Division

North Village Rams 2 – Robin Hood 2

At the Bernard Park, Jaylon Bather gave visiting Robin Hood the lead in the 31st minute, but player/coach Ralph Bean Jr. equalized for the North Village Rams in the 46th minute.

Keishen Bean put the North Village Rams ahead midway through the second half, but Liam Evans would equalize for Robin Hood as the two teams played to a 2-2 draw.

Hamilton Parish 1 – Dandy Town Hornets 2

At the Wellington Oval, Clay Darrell gave the visiting Dandy Town Hornets the lead in the first half, before Temiko Wilson doubled the Dandy Town Hornets lead with a second half strike.

Mauriq Hill would pull a goal back for Hamilton Parish, but they could not find the equalizer as the visitors came away with the 2 – 1 win.

PHC Zebras 2 – St. George’s Colts 1

At the Southampton Oval, Cecoy Robinson gave the PHC Zebras the lead in the 31st minute, with Robinson doubled the lead by scoring from the penalty spot in the 59th minute.

Jarreau Hayward pulled a goal back for the St. George’s Colts in the 72nd minute, but time ran out as the PHC Zebras came away with a 2-1 win.

Devonshire Cougars 1 – Somerset Trojans 2

At the Devonshire Recreation Club, Derrick Brangman gave the Devonshire Cougars the lead, but the Somerset Trojans goalkeeper Shaquille Bean ran the length of the field to equalize for the visitors when he converted from the penalty spot.

The Somerset Trojans Jaz Rattery-Smith scored to give the his team the lead and eventually the win, but the goal was not without controversy.

The Devonshire Cougars were in possession of the ball and with one of their players down injured, they played the ball into touch.

When the game restarted, the Somerset Trojans kicked the ball back to the Devonshire Cougars; however before any Devonshire Cougars player could touch the ball Rattery-Smith nipped in and scored.

    Very disturbing re the manner in which Somerset scored. It is both distasteful and damaging to the sport.

    I witnessed this once before in a game vesus BAA and was left with the feeling that the game had died on the vine and that coaches had lost their way – winning is everything.

    Sad!!!
