Raised Speed Bump To Be Installed In City
A raised speed bump will be installed over the weekend at the corner of Union Street and Victoria Street, in line with Joell’s Alley.
A spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton advises the public that a raised speed bump will be installed over the weekend at the corner of Union Street and Victoria Street, in line with Joell’s Alley.
“The installation was brought about after numerous safety concerns from the public as well as the People’s Pharmacy proprietors were made to the City.”
Senior Engineer, Ian Hind, said of the installation, ‘This area of Hamilton is a high volume one both with motorists and pedestrians. With no traffic lights in the immediate vicinity and the steep gradient of the hill coming westward from King Street, the need to drive with due care and implement an additional safety element became a priority.’
“The City encourages all motorists to drive with extreme caution in this area over the weekend during the roadworks. New signage indicating the raised speedbump will also be installed. The painting of the new speed bump will be carried out next week after the asphalt has cured.”
