Cricketer Malachi Jones Released from Rangers
Bermudian cricketer Malachi Jones has been released from his local side Southampton Rangers.
One of Bermuda’s best young cricketers, Mr. Jones played for Bermuda at the 2007 World Cup while still a teenager. He claimed a wicket on his first delivery at the 2007 World Cup, after Dwayne Leverock made a stunning diving catch. We understand this made him the first ever cricketer to take a wicket with his first World Cup delivery, and it definitely made him the youngest.
Now 20 years old, the all rounder was considered a marquee player for Southampton Rangers. The club, which ranks second in the Premier division, says it is a significant loss, but that they will manage.
Mr. Jones has been signed by Premier Division newcomer Willow Cuts, who has also recently signed right armed fast bowler George O’Brian from Police. Two more top players may be joining Willow Cuts according to the ‘Bermudian rumour mill’.
