Senator Bean: BEST Protesters are “Selfish”
With strong words in the Senate yesterday, Senator Marc Bean called the Bermuda Environmental and Sustainability Taskforce [BEST] “discredible” and said he “cannot take them serious“.
Clearly stating that he himself is a naturalist, the Senator praised the work of Greenrock, another local environmental organization prior to speaking on BEST.
Senator Bean’s main issue he spoke of with the environmental group BEST was what he perceived to be ‘selective protests’.
Senator Bean stated that he has not heard any of them speak on, nor protest the gun crime that is happening in Bermuda, and referenced the shooting at Bermuda College this weekend. Calling the protester’s actions “non humanistic” and “selfish“, he said they will protest trees and lizards, but not gun crime. He made the point that “that’s our environment too”

He stated the BEST protesters are “worried about their own little cubby hole” and are “separated from reality“. The Senator also stated that he “takes real issue with this Muppet show“.
In the same session, Senators David Burch and Kim Wilson complained of rude emails they have received from BEST supporters over the Southlands land swap situation.
BEST is actively involved with preserving Southlands, a 37 acre parkland in Warwick, from hotel development.
Senator Bean is an FAA certified commercial pilot and Managing Director of Paradise Air Limited. He is performs volunteer service as the Deputy Chairman of the West End Development Corporation. The Berkeley Institute graduate is an accomplished tennis player, having represented Bermuda. Senator Bean serves as junior Minister of Transport, Tourism, Environment and Sport.

Just goes to show everyone who cares about our Environment how “discredited” Mr Bean and his self-serving P L Party are. How can he compare Gun Crime with saving our Environment, and then complain about BEST (quite rightly) utilizing “selective protests” and is “separated from reality?“ The only people who are separated from reality (by choice) are the Brownites who continue to systematically RAPE our Island into the Third World!
As a result, Mr Bean appears to be a confused negro.
And the Colonel’s whining about “rude emails”… well, that’s just karma.
I think there are many senators who are “separated from reality”, not just in the PLP either.
