Bermuda Docs Adds Local Filmmaker To Lineup
A short film by veteran Bermudian filmmaker Robert Zuill has been added to the line-up for the Bermuda Documentary Film Festival [Bermuda Docs].
The festival will screen 10 top documentary feature films from around the world this Friday – Sunday in the Tradewinds Auditorium at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
Mr Zuill’s film “Kabul Water Project” [rated ‘G’ by Bermuda’s Broadcasting Commissioners] will screen at 4 p.m. on Saturday April 24th. Watch a preview below:
It proposes a solar-powered solution to an issue facing refugees from rural Afghanistan who have gone to live in the mountains surrounding Kabul.
Mr. Zuill was in Afghanistan during August and September of 2009, and he is seeking to raise $40,000 so that the project can get underway.

Mr. Zuill previously spent 10 years working as a producer for CNN’s top newsmagazine programme, and now runs his own production company, Terra Sea Productions, which produces documentaries, television ads, and corporate videos.
About the film and project the local filmmaker says:
Afghanistan is a fascinating place, and my visit there has created a huge desire in me to go back and help to provide some solutions to the country’s development issues.
I would love to sit down with some people or organisations in Bermuda that are interested in assisting. What we in wealthy Bermuda consider a relatively small amount of money can go a long way towards providing some basic needs in Afghanistan.
Tickets to Bermuda Docs, presented by Mini, are $15 and on sale online at www.bdatix.bm, in person at the iStore, 46 Reid Street, Hamilton, and at Fabulous Fashions, Heron Bay Plaza, Southampton, or by telephone (232-2255).
