Did Not Finish: Celebrity Relay Race Team
During yesterday’s IAAF World Athletics Day meet, four of Bermuda’s best all time athletes joined up to create our own Bermudian version of a unisex relay dream team.
They included:
- Brian Wellman: 4-time Olympian and former World Champion Triple Jumper
- Debbie Jones Hunter: Helped set a world record in the indoor 4 x 2200m in 1978, set national records 14 times
- Katura Horton-Perinchief: First black woman worldwide to compete at Olympic level diving
- Devon Bean: Former Olympic sprinter who competed in the 1996 Olympic 100 metres
Brian.Wellman [pictured below] started off the first leg, and then passed the baton off to Debbie Jones-Hunter, who had a misfortunate fall shortly into her leg of the race. Despite the mishap, a good time was had by all. You can view the full results of the meet, as well as a photo gallery here.
