IAAF World Athletics Day Results & Photos

May 23, 2010

Yesterday [May 22], Bermuda joined 161 other countries in taking part in the IAAF World Athletics Day. Donna Watson of the Bermuda Track and Field Association says that “It was a great track meet with a very good turnout and some good performances”.

She went on to explain that another athlete qualify for the CAC Jnr. Championships, after Dage Minors completed the 1500 meters in the under 17 boys category in a time of 4:18.68. This increased the number of Bermuda athletes qualified for this event to 13.

Also of note, was 12 year old Kyrah Scraders in the 1500 metres breaking the tape in a time of 4:54.79. The Bermuda Junior record in the 1500m is 4:45.90 so clearly Kyrah has great potential. Kyrah will be competing in the CUT Junior Games as she is too young for this year’s CAC Juniors.

Winners included Syriah Lottimore, Imani Byron, Mikaela Outerbridge, Rodae Bascome, Jaret Simmons, Shaquille Dill, Andrea Jackson, Darico Clarke, Dage Minors, Chas Smith and many, many more. You can view or download the full results here [11 page PDF]
