Bevy Of Free Prizes Available For College Students

July 6, 2010

The College Student Networking Event to be held on July 22nd is offering thousands of dollars worth of free prizes including a laptop, Nintendo Wii, iPod, iPad, iPod nano, Amazon Kindle, Blackberry, Xbox 360, $750 worth of travel vouchers, $100 calling card,  a $250 deposit account all topped off with two internships on offer.

With less than three weeks to go until the 12th Annual College Student Networking Event (CSNE) on Thursday 22nd July, students who haven’t yet signed up are encouraged to do so early by the organizers Business Bermuda.

“Spaces for the speed networking session in particular are filling up fast and the number of seats are limited, so students need to sign up online to make sure they get a space. We have never had this level of interest so early in previous years, I believe it is a sign of the times,” commented Cheryl Packwood, Business Bermuda’s CEO.

A Management Trainee at Butterfield, Chanjiv Simons who has previously attended the event, summarised the importance of networking and commented on the Business Bermuda event, stating, “In today’s economic climate, there are a lot fewer job opportunities available. Everybody is competing and qualified for the same jobs. What’s going to set you apart is your ability to network and make contacts with individuals who can provide good advice and a possible foot in the door.”

Our official deadline for confirmation of exhibitor space is this Friday 9th July so do get in touch before then if you want to exhibit!”

As well as speed networking and booth exhibits, the event will also consist of a keynote speech from Damon Wade of Bermuda Gas, informative career seminars facilitated by Expertise and general networking for the employer participants and students. There will be networking coaches walking around the event to facilitate interaction between potential employers, mentors and students. Derek Smith of The Bermuda Careers Centre has been instrumental in managing the coaching aspect of the event. Ms Packwood concluded, stating, “Networking can be difficult for all groups. Coaching the students and employers through the process is an innovative measure.”
