Photos/Results: 2010 Argus Open Tennis Tournament
The finals of the annual Argus Open tennis tournament were played yesterday [July 24] at the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium. The Men’s Open Singles was won by Jenson Bascome after an exhilarating playoff against Julien Pinot for the title (6-3,6-3). Tyler Smith claimed victory over Cayla Cross in the Ladies’ Open Singles (7-6(10),6-3). Earl Leader took the Senior Men’s Singles title against John Johnston (6-1,6-3).
Meanwhile Jenson Bascome and Romar Douglas reigned supreme in the Men’s Open Doubles category over David Jenkins and Roger Marshall (6-3,6-3) and Janet Grainger and Jane Pringle were victorious in the Ladies’ Open Doubles title against Rhonda Caza and Sarah Cook (6-0,6-0). The Senior Men’s Doubles title was taken by brothers Earl Leader and Erwin Leader after battling Dennis Harris and Larry Samuels (6-0,6-2). James Collieson and Jane Pringle championed the Mixed Doubles competition against Romar Douglas and Morgan Lightbourne (6-3, 6-3).
The tournament is now in its 12th year and is hosted and sanctioned by the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association. It has been sponsored by the Argus Group since its inception in 1999.
