Promotions Announced at BELCO

A.L. Vincent Ingham, President & CEO of Ascendant Group Limited and CEO of BELCO, today announced several management promotions saying “The future of BELCO and the other Ascendant Group companies depends on building a strong organization that is supported by Bermudian talent, skill and expertise,” Mr. Ingham went on to add, “I am very proud that more than 90 percent of our staff are Bermudian, and that we have a corporate culture of developing people from within the organization.”

The BELCO management promotions announced are:

David Faries, J.P., C.A., to Vice President & Financial Controller.
Mr. Faries worked for six years as an auditor at Coopers & Lybrand, Bermuda. He began his BELCO career in 1989 as Supervisor, General Accounts, receiving various promotions and title changes over his 20-plus years of service with the organization.

Dennis Pimentel, M.I.E.T., C.Eng., to Vice President, Energy Delivery.

Mr. Pimentel has responsibility for Construction, Operations & Maintenance. He joined BELCO as an Apprentice in 1989. With BELCO’s support, Mr. Pimentel earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Florida International University, Miami, and expanded his skills by working at Florida Power & Light for two years, then returning to BELCO.

Abayomi Carmichael, M.B.A., C.Eng., to Assistant Vice President, System Reliability in Energy Supply
He joined BELCO as an Apprentice in 1989 and later earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Newcastle Upon Tyne University, then an M.B.A. from Imperial College in London, with specialization in finance. He was named Senior Reliability Engineer in 2008, and earlier this year, became the first winner of the Ascendant Impact Award for innovation and contribution to the company.

Michael J. Maughan, C.Eng., to Assistant Vice President, Operations Centre

Having earned a masters degree in electrical engineering from Florida Institute of Technology in 1999, he joined BELCO as an Engineer-in-Training. As Mr. Maughan’s career progressed at BELCO, he worked in Engineering & Planning and Transmission & Distribution, prior to heading the Operations Centre.

Denton E. Williams, M.I.E.T, M.I.E.E.E., to Assistant Vice President, Energy Supply
Mr. Williams joined BELCO as an Apprentice in 1989 and later qualified for a BELCO Internal Scholarship, earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at University of Phoenix. He was promoted to Automation Technologist in 2003, after working on the design and construction of BELCO’s state-of-the-art C. Eugene Cox Operations Centre.
