Bermuda Wins Gold Medal In World Champs

medal singleGreat news has come from Sweden that Bermuda’s own Colleen Nelson of the Bermuda Masters Swimming Team won a gold medal today [Aug 1] in the 60-64 year age group at the FINA World Masters Championships in Sweden.

Ms Nelson beat over 40 swimmers from around the world to take the top prize in the 100 metre breastroke, finishing in 1:37.25. No stranger to winning, Ms Nelson has won a number of medals over her competitive career in various international events.

Also representing Bermuda in the Women’s 40 – 44 Age Group 100m Breaststroke was Karen Bruton who finished 30th with a time of 1:33.35, and Annette Budge who finished 44th in a time of 1:38.70. Ms Burton also competed in the Women’s 40 – 44 Age Group 200m backstroke finishing 15th with a time of 3:05.26.

Paul Viney and Simon Horrell competed in the Men’s 55 – 59 Age Group 100m Freestyle. Mr Viney finished 19th overall with a time of 1:07.15, while Mr Horrell finished 22nd with a time of 1:08.29.
