Meeting Set For St George’s Market

August 26, 2010

There will be a meeting for all interested potential vendors for a planned new street market in St. George’s on Thursday, September 2nd at Penno’s Wharf Cruise Terminal in St. George’s at 6:30 p.m.  The idea and concept behind the market is to help assist the Old Town, and attract locals to shop in the area.

The organizer says:

We are starting a street market in St. George’s aimed at attracting locals/residents. We want the market to appeal to local people and meet their needs. We are looking for vendors with pedlar’s licenses; farmers/gardeners; licensed fishermen; licensed food vendors; crafts people; artists; face-painters; buskers and more.

The market will be on Thursday evenings between 6-10. You will have to provide your own table/set-up and chairs. We are working with different agencies and the fees for the market are not established as yet.

We are encouraging the St. George’s businesses to remain open and several have already agreed to do so. There may be an additional incentive offered by stores of a discount.

We want this market to be similar to the ones found abroad i.e. selling a myriad of products appealing to a broad spectrum of people.

To express and interest in taking part in the market email streetmarketghosttown “at” yahoo.com or see their Facebook page.
