Videos: UBP Mid Term Bermuda Finances Report

The videos below show Bob Richards, the Shadow Minister of Finance, as he provides his mid-term report on the Bermuda’s finances during a press conference today [Sept 7] held at the UBP Headquarters.

Mr Richards addressed many financial matters, including unemployment and the tax increase shown in the 2010/11 budget, saying that “they probably won’t get all of that 100 million dollars, because of the increased amount of unemployment, if people aren’t working they don’t pay payroll tax.” He went on to say the likelihood of Government reaching their target this year is “very low indeed.”

Mr Richards also addressed the links between crime and economy, calling crime the biggest threat to our economy saying “we can talk about economics all we like, but if we continue shooting each other it poses a major threat to our way of life in this island”.
