Upcoming This Weekend: 2010 Dog Shows
The Bermuda Kennel Club will be holding Dog Shows on Saturday and Sunday, October 23rd & 24th, 2010 at Somersfield Academy, in Middle Road, Devonshire. Judging starts each day at 8.30am, and admission is free.
There will be four International All Breed Championship Dog Shows. Conformation shows, also referred to as Breed Shows, are where each purebred dog is judged against the ideal breed type for their Breed, as described in its Breed Standard, like you see at the Westminster Dog Show or the AKC/Eukanuba Championships on TV.
And in conjunction with the Breed Shows, the Dog Training Club of Bermuda will be running four Licensed Agility Trials. Dog Agility is a dog sport where the handler directs a dog through an obstacle course in a race for both time and accuracy. Dog Agility requires exceptional training and coordination of both dog and handler.
These shows welcome dogs, handlers and owners, from Canada and the United States to compete with their Bermuda counterparts. The Judges will also be coming from the U.S. and Canada.
