Relocation of the Environmental Health Section

November 15, 2010

Moving-House1Last week the Environmental Health Section of the Department of Health relocated their offices from the Old Hospital Building on 7 Point Finger Road, Paget to the Continental Building, Burnaby Street, Hamilton.

They moved from the old hospital in order to make way for the new King Edward Memorial hospital which will be built on the Point Finger Road site.

It is anticipated that the Environmental Health Section will move into newly renovated premises at 6 Hermitage Road, Devonshire, the site of the former Metro mineral water factory, as soon as the renovation is completed.

In the meantime the administrative hub of Environmental Health will operate from the Continental Building, giving the public a venue to pay for and collect licenses or to meet personally with environmental health staff.

The Environmental Health Section has eight programs including:

  • * the vector control program,
  • * the occupational safety and health program,
  • * the food and beverage safety program,
  • * the water and sanitary engineering program,
  • * the institutional hygiene program,
  • * the port health program,
  • * the housing conditions control program and
  • * the pollution control program.
