Alterra Names Gamble To US Post

1alterraBermuda-based Alterra Capital Holdings Limited today (Dec.7) announced the appointment of Daniel G. Gamble as managing director of Alterra USA. W. Marston (Marty) Becker, president and Chief Executive Officer of Alterra, commented: “The addition of Dan Gamble to the Alterra USA team is an important step as we seek to build out the underwriting capability of our US insurance operations. Dan has a terrific reputation as an Executive Liability underwriter and manager, and we expect that he will successfully develop a profitable book of Executive Liability business in the US, to complement the insurance business that Alterra successfully underwrites in its Bermuda and Dublin platforms.”

Operating out of Alterra House on Front Street, Alterra Capital Holdings (formerly Max Capital Group) provides speciality property/casualty reinsurance and insurance, along with a sprinkling of life and annuities reinsurance, through its subsidiaries. The company’s primary focuses are reinsurance for workers’ compensation, employers’ liability, medical malpractice, property damage, and other casualty liability risks. Its insurance offerings include excess and surplus lines, such as liability, professional, and property coverage for large companies. The company’s policies are sold through large brokerage and intermediary firms. Alterra changed its name earlier this year 0 after acquiring another Bermuda-based reinsurer, Harbor Point Ltd.

Dan Gamble has more than 15 years experience in Professional Liability underwriting, most recently as Executive Vice President, Executive Assurance with Arch Insurance Group. Prior to joining Arch in 2002, Dan served as an Assistant Vice President in the Financial Institutions underwriting department for Hartford Financial Products Group and as an underwriter for the Financial Institution Group at Gulf Insurance Company. He is a Member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Plymouth State University.
