Cricket Squad for Dubai Tour Named
The Bermuda Cricket Board has named the team selected to travel to Dubai to compete in the 5 match 50 overs series against UAE. The tour will take place from December 30th to January 12th.
Coach David Moore commented on the importance of this tour and some of the selections. “Stephen Outerbridge and Irving Romaine are unable to tour due to injury. Terryn Fray is unable to travel due to family reasons.”
“The 15 players selected for the tour of Dubai have been given the opportunity by the BCB to experience conditions that the team will be encounter in April 2011 for the WCL Division 2 Qualifying tournament. It is vital that all the selected players take their opportunity and continue the hard work and commitment that is expected of International athletes and representatives of the Bermudian people.”
“Most of the players that have missed selection have been working very hard and I expect them to maintain pressure on the selected players and challenge for positions. This is a very healthy position for Bermuda cricket as there is now pressure on all players, not only to perform consistently with the bat and ball, but to further develop other areas of their game, such as fitness, strength and conditioning and mental skills.”
“The team is a mixture of experience and youth. Many of the players have played for most of the recent International season and it is imperative that they keep improving and perform consistently at the International level to maintain their position. It is exciting to be welcoming Damali Bell to the squad. He is an extremely exciting prospect that I expect will maintain his exceptional work ethic now that he has been given an opportunity. Lionel Cann has been included in the squad to strengthen the middle order batting and add experience on the field. Lionel clearly understands the culture and goals of the team and has expressed his full commitment in discussions that the coaching staff have had with him.”
“I am happy to give one of our promising U19 players, Kamau Leverock, an opportunity to tour with the senior team, particularly with the U19 World Cup qualifier just 50 days away.”
“Although Dwayne Leverock has not been included in the squad there is a clear plan that has been devised through discussions with Dwayne and the coaching staff that I hope will come to fruition so that he is ready for future commitments of the team. I must say that Dwayne is working extremely hard to achieve the plans that have been set and I appreciate his hard work and commitment.”
“Selection for the Bermuda National team is no longer based on runs and wickets alone. Fitness, commitment, training attendance as well as skill are all factors that have led to selection of the final team.”

Money much better spent on a sport that has dedicated participants & winners. Another junket that will yield nothing more than losses & exuses.
I am gaining weight so I can make the team. I think I will only come to one practice
