Advisory For Bermudians In The Middle East

The Government of Bermuda advised this evening that it is “following the developments in the Middle East, noting the heightened risk of regional tension.”

A Government spokesperson said, “Bermudians in the Middle East Region must follow travel advice from the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Due to missile attacks, shelter in place. Affected individuals are encouraged to remain indoors in a secure location, avoid all travel and follow instructions from the local authorities.”

    That is a misleading statement. It is not the case that Bermudians or others “must” follow travel advice from the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office. It is advisable, but not a “must”.
