Marsh & Guy Carpenter Donate $13,000

Marsh and Guy Carpenter announced year-end donations of $13,000 to various charities across Bermuda.

In an official presentation this morning [Dec 9], Marsh and Guy Carpenter, operating companies of Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. (MMC), presented donation cheques to representatives from WindReach, Lady Cubitt Compassionate Association (LCCA), Crime Stoppers, YouthNet, Friends of Hospice, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda, Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, and Bermuda Junior Service League’s Coins for a Cause.

“Marsh, Guy Carpenter, and our more than 200 colleagues in Bermuda are proud to support these charitable organizations, which deliver valuable educational programs, humanitarian efforts, and other initiatives to the community,” said David Ezekiel, Bermuda Chairman, Marsh & McLennan Companies and Chairman of Marsh’s Bermuda Charity Committee. “We are committed to assisting these organizations, and the broader community, with both financial contributions and voluntary efforts of our colleagues.”

”Through generous donations from individuals and companies like Marsh and Guy Carpenter, we are able to invest in the future and create consistent, one-on-one, long-term relationships between young people in need and mentors who serve as positive role models,” said Esme Williams, Counselling Executive Director, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda. “We are so grateful that Marsh and Guy Carpenter chose to support us this year with $2,500. Their donation will go a long way in helping young Bermudians in need to reach their full potential.”

In addition to the year-end donations, Marsh and Guy Carpenter sponsor a number of other corporate citizenship programs in Bermuda. Other activities include a monthly ‘Denim Friday,’ in which colleagues are permitted to wear denim for a $5 donation to a local charity. Colleague donations are matched by Marsh and Guy Carpenter. In addition, the companies hold an annual Community Giving Day for colleagues to physically assist various local charities. More than 120 Marsh and Guy Carpenter colleagues volunteered for the 2010 program.

The charities receiving the donations were; Kiwanis Club of Hamilton Seniors Lunch – $200, Crime Stoppers – $800, WindReach – $1,000, Bermuda Junior Service League’s Coins for a Cause supporting Bermuda Islands Association of the Deaf – $1,000, LCCA – $2,500, YouthNet – $2,500, Friends of Hospice (Agape House) – $2,500 and Big Brothers Big Sisters Bermuda – $2,500.
