Where are the comments to “Police confirm Arrest of Serving Officer”? I think you’ve mixed something up here…

    • bernews says:

Mixed something up is a polite way to put it ! Thanks for mentioning that, as we would not have noticed for a while if you had not.

Sorry everyone, human error on my part, caused comments from a political piece to be transposed here. I moved them back, my apologies..

      Patricia

  2. Brasco says:

Damn, I would say all of these officers are suspicious…all these guns in Bermuda and there hasn’t been a buss that has found any….yet you see the proud officers patrolling stop signs…like I said before, our police force seems weird!

    • Sheriff says:

Brasco, I fully agree ! They have allegedly been tipped off at times , so they know the residences doing a pack! Maybe they are scared…

      • Ray says:

yeah and i know for sure that the people by my house are selling drugs and we have told the police plenty of times but they aint doing nothing about it. crazyness bie

  3. DARRIN DIZZLE says:

When was the last time the cops found anything over a few ounces and stuff that was rolled already? They couldn’t catch a real criminal if one turned himself in.
The cops and the customs officers let the guns and weed through but confiscate wedding rings! Dirty bassits!

    • Brasco says:

Then our Collector Of Customs Mrs. Desilva tells us people can’t pass a FIXED exam……damn, just investigate them all!!….Our neighborhoods aren’t safe because some members of our Police force are allegedly making money in them!!!!

  4. Ray says:

most of those damn people need to be arrested. All they do is drive around and giving law-abiding people tickets for stupidness but they cant catch people that are doing real crimes. If i forget to put my foot on the ground at a stop sign and you see someone speed past a red light. Who would you go after? right, police have no common sense. They other day I was at the stop sign at the junction of Reid Street and Court Street and I was about to turn right coming off the hill and a guy speeds past me and runs a red light while the police standing on the corner is chopsin with some woman. Like i said, all of them either need to be fired or arrested

    • Brasco says:

YES!!!!…..I once got a ticket for not putting my foot down at the stop sign!!!….unbelievable!!!!……

Them Sniffer dogs can’t smell illegal contraband after smelling donuts all damn day!

    • DARRIN DIZZLE says:

Since taxis need GPS the cops should too so maybe the Gov can print out a report to see what donut shops they hide in all day!

      • Brasco says:

It amazes me that in 2010 our police cars aren’t fitted with GPS’s or dash board cameras = Hiding corruption and illegal Donut Eating!

I need to be Commssioner Of Police and Collector Of Customs…..Is there a test available for those two post today, I’m sure I’ll pass them both!!

  5. Rockfish#2 says:

Curious! What really happens to drugs confiscated by the police? ( I know what the answer should be)

    • Sheriff says:

Rockfish… lol… for $20 my answer is destroyed, but for the cool $1ml I say they go right back on the street ! that money builds homes , send kids to college , vacays down in exotic places… ohhh, the list is endless!

      • Ray says:

I also agree with Sherrif. What I said is what the good cops do but the bad cops dont let that stuff go to waste

        • Sheriff says:

Ray, I think in the past I could look at a cop and think-he looks by the book, honest ….but now… hmm very sad.

    • Ray says:

they burn em. Last night i was watching that show marijuana usa and when the people take all the weed plants out of the forest they burn them in a pile.

      • Rockfish#2 says:

We am fully aware of what should happen to drugs seized in Bermuda by the BPS and Customs. Again, the question is, what REALLY happens? ( This is not a trick question)

  6. Brasco says:

You something though…at the end of the day, we may never know who and what this case may be about (unless Facebook wiki-leaks it)…..Cops will always stick up for cops…..what ever happend to the two female officers caught in th act at the station?????…….we need our own Bermy-leak-it-pedia!!

    • Sheriff says:

I too am still waiting to hear what happened…. They probably swear them to secrecy… They blasted them on the 7pm news, then it all went hush hush….

  7. enough says:

Lol, the usual suspects come here to get their cathartic rant about the police on the world wide web. Nice. Boo hoo, you got a ticket, diddums.
Look back at the fatal accident threads and all you see is “Where are the police doing traffic duty?”. Look at the gun threads and it’s “The police are too busy policing stop signs and giving tickets. They should be out catching real criminals.”
Of course both statements reflect the full scope of policing responsibilities. Regular patrol folks can’t be expected to deal with gun crimes, there are teams that deal with that, so that’s what they do. Investigators deal with crime and we’ve seen a plethora of results on that front this year alone. Is it enough? no. Any murder or offence in general undetected is unacceptable. Detective skills and forensic analysis can only do so much. Without witnesses, of which there are usually plenty, the crime will seldom go solved, it doesn’t take a genius to work that out. But that’s for another thread.
As for this thread….no one is actually pleased that the police have arrested one of their own? I think it’s great that they have identified something and are dealing with it.
to suggest as the haters above have that all need to suffer the same fate is disgusting but shows their lack of objectivity because they broke a law and had it enforced.
So we’re clear, this police service can and should do more and do it better. I’m also sure there are bad apples within its ranks. What workplace can honestly say it’s immune to this? I’ll tell you, one that is in denial.
Anyway, this clearly isn’t going to be a thread for sonstructive dialogue, it’s just going to be another police related thread where Brasco vents his anger at the $50 ticket he got.
Police and doughnuts…how original. All night thinking that one up, congrats Brasco, a life on the stage beckons bringing your comedy to the masses.

    • Brasco says:

I’m glad I got your attention….When did freedom of speach get abolished??

Your second last paragraph is a little oxy….you’re pretty much agreeing to my venting?

So you’re telling me if a Detective officer sees someone running a stop sign, he has no authority to write up a traffic ticket???….Get Outta here

You must get discounts on your Dough-nuts!

      • enough says:

See, this is where your breathtaking lack of knowledge catches up to you. No, a plain clothed officer who sees (most) traffic offences is not allowed to deal with it and write a ticket…..”A constable in uniform….”…go educate yourself.
My last paragraph speaks to your lack of original wit. Maybe you don’t know what a paragraph is either, I don’t know.

        • Brasco says:

Calm down, calm down…..I said your SECOND LAST paragraph…your vents do seem a little jumbled up though…..stay focused and stop venting….Cops need to pick up their game….we both agreed on that right?

          Don’t get mad at me, I ain’t the Police…..go get yourself a beer…damn!…calm down

          • enough says:

Lol, my mistake, second last paragraph was about you also.
Cops needing to pick up their game seems to infer that all men and women in the service have room to improve. That’s true of everyone, in every job, bar none.
I am of the believe that an overwhelming majority of the men and women in the service come to work day and night and try their hardest with the best of itentions and do a good job, do you agree?
I said already that the service as a whole can and should do better. I’m sure the shareholders of Google want the same from that set of staff, right? Every corporation, small business etc etc has room for improvement. The BPS employs 470+ sworn staff and who knows how many support staff, that’s a lot of people and I’m sure some can be developed, mentored and supervised more effectively.
I guess it’s the insinuation and downright accusation that some have made, that the majority (or all in one case) of officers are bad and whatever else is what annoys me.
I’m perfectly calm for the record.
I have no issue with debate and contrarian viewpoints, they are healthy. I’d just rather that biases, falsehoods and misconceptions are left at the cyber door.
Lay people cannot be expected to know the law intimately, I understand that. Lay folks get frustrated at process and see things as simple; we all know where the drug dealers are, so go get them etc….well, the reality is that it’s not that easy. It should be but police must operate under authority of the law of the land, congnisant of human rights, policies, procedures etc etc.
I mean, I’ve never done it, so it would be a liberty if I came on here and assumed I knew how to sweep the floors better than you, no?

            • ok says:

I agree with everything you have said Enough. Brasco wants police to ignore EVERYTHING else and concentrate only on Crime but he fails to understand that in some instants one is comepletely involves the other.. ie.. Tint.

              • Uncle Ruckus says:

How is tint correlated to crime? LOL. Not everyone who has or wants tint on their vehicle is a criminal or doing illegal things.

      • Sheriff says:

BY FECK OFF…. AYE! ..YO!! BRASCO… ENOUGH SHOWED UP AND TURNED THIS THREAD INTO A SLAPPING MATCH ! PLAY NICE ON THE PLAYGROUND FOLKS ! AND KEEP YOUR HANDS IN YOUR POCKETS !

    • Dragging A Lure says:

      To enough,
I like your thread. I’m taking the opportunity to add the following:
“Internal Corruption” involves more than one person in any Police Service participating in illegal activities that contravenes the Service’s policies & Prtocedures. Internal Corruption is not a charge that is served on an indivual for stealing, inappropriate record keeping, drug taking or any other offence. Therefore the suspension of 1 officer is mute, impossible to get any conviction unless the other particpants involved in the activities are identified.

  8. Terry says:

    Thumbs up ‘Enough’.

  9. Peace and Love says:

Ok…well you (the Police) are always on the publics’ back to come forth and give evidence and call in tips…hmmmmm I wonder how many of his fellow officers are going to come forward and give evidence or call ‘Crime Stoppers?’ or will it be a case of “hear no evil, speak no evil”

Shame though because there REALLY ARE SOME GOOD POLICEMAN OUT THERE!!!!!!!!

    • Brasco says:

Yes, there are some good police out there, I encourage them to continue and serge on Positively and Proactively!!

  10. LOL (original) says:

Enough thanks for calling me out. Unfortunately I do not think you will find very many Bermudians surprised by this at all. People have been saying this for years and years. Police watch each others backs they lie about events and are not usually very courteous when handling the public. I too would like to know what happened to the cops messing around while on the job are money pays them if they are putting on a girl + girl show lets have it otherwise do your job and police the country and stop f#king around……….

    LOL
ps there are some good cops out there but when good cops or people do nothing.. you know the rest.

  11. puremedness says:

Guyz R pure Mugness…ppl need 2 stop killn each other b4 its 2 late….Jah Bless us from ya chess up and respeck up from ya neck up

  12. Drew says:

I’d bet $100 that puremedness is a 15 year old rich kid from Fairylands who goes to Saltus.

    • puremedness says:

Aside from minor miscalculations regarding my age, education, and place of residence, you’d win that bet, old Bean! Allow me, if you will, to translate my original message in order to transcend its TRUE intent:

      “Guyz” = Corrupt Police Officers/Babylon
      “R” = are
      “Pure” = very
      “Mugness” = bad
“killin each other” = misrepresenting/abusing the system they swore to uphold
“2 late” = when said system collapses on itself in utter chaos and anarchy

I was merely expressing concern at an impending nexus of police corruption/gang violence which threatens to devour our very SOUL AS A NATION!

Apologies for appearing ignorant/ill-informed…occasionally my youthful, whimsical vernacular gets the best of me.

      CHEERIO!

  13. Critical Thinker says:

I wander what happened to that container of weed that was found on the south shore a few years back. And the shipment of guns that went allegedly missing, while they were under police. Bermudians have short memory and the powers that be is quite aware of this. So all the this will soon be forgotten so you can move on to the next new news. This is funny.

    • Rockfish#2 says:

The general public never get answers to these types of questions. Therefore it is not a stretch when they believe these rumors of corrupt police officers.
