Three Businesses Robbed Inc Guest House
Around 10pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a robbery at a Southampton guest property. The Police say that it appears around 9:50pm two men went to the front desk area where they demanded money, with one of the men brandishing what the Police term a “blunt object”. The men left with a quantity of cash, and no one was injured.
The suspects are described as two tall black men of medium build. An active investigation into this incident is underway.
Police say “There was a heightened Police presence in the area at the time as officers had been made aware of two men riding a motorcycle in the vicinity with a covered license plate. In fact the Bermuda Police Service has increased patrol resources island wide including in the City of Hamilton for the Christmas period. We continue to encourage businesses to take proactive crime prevention measures such as leaving a small float or ideally no float on the property overnight, as well as installing a panic alarm and CCTV system on the premises. The public can also assist in deterring criminal activity by reporting any suspicious individuals or activity to Police at the earliest opportunity. ”
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Middle Road, Southampton area around 9:45pm Tuesday or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
Two additional businesses were robbed in the same time frame. Around 5:20am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Victoria Street, Pembroke business saying “It appears that sometime between 2am and 5am that day an unknown culprit gained entry into the restaurant. It is unknown what if anything was taken.”
Also, at around 5:45am this morning [Dec 15], Police received a report of a burglary at a Middle Road, Warwick service station, where the culprit entered the premises and stole a quantity of cigarettes.
Police inquiries into all incidents are underway, and anyone with any information is asked to contact Police on 295-0011.
What a charming island we’ve become. Congratulations to all the thieves and murderers who are ruining Bermuda even more than our politicians could ever have hoped. As Bermuda slowly sinks into 3rd world status I hope you’ll be happy that the beaches are still beautiful. Just don’t take you’re valuables there cos you’ll get robbed.
I agree..what have we become? This Island is in a sad state, dare I say It will get worse.
You have to bear in mind that as people provide more information and police clamp down further, that it will cut off or slow down the income streams for the illegal element of Bermuda. Combine this with the slow down in the economy and people becoming more desperate, these types of incidents will continue and become more.
Whilst not a nice situation, is it anything resembling a third world country? I think not. More and more people are being taken to court for violent acts and we, the people of Bermuda, are being rewarded with more convictions getting these wanna be thugs off the streets.
What is needed is to have the people of Bermuda stay positive against this infestation we have seen grow. The more publicity these wanna be thugs get, the more brazen and risk taking they will get. They enjoy this publicity they get, as it adds to their “image” (like anyone out of 65,000 people really care about their image).
In the meantime, Bermudians need to stand up and be involved more…whether it’s being in a community watch or community group, helping at risk teens find a clear path. You can even join the Police or Reserve Police if you want to get on the streets and make a difference. The options are there for everyone as a country to pull together and make a change…now it is up to the many great people of Bermuda to make that happen.
You bring up some good points Steve but I disagree with your “( like anyone out of 65,000 really care about their image).
Apparent-(Parent) ly many do. ‘Not my son, he’s a good Christian fearing person and he never gets caught. He only smoked weed once but hasn’t been caught selling it yet, yet.
Excuses and denial. As for “publicity”, how are we suppose to deal with crime and social attitudes if not brought too the public eye/attention.
The Police are doing a great job with informants and forensics. Thast all they have at this time.
When you see your neighbors and friends linning up outside Supreme Court to testify, give me a call. It’s all part and parcel. As for going to hell in a handbasket well next Easter is comming soon.
“rewarded with more convictions” , I’ll have to think about that one but convictions mean diddly whilst it continues with no end in sight. Convictions are no deterrant. If it/they were we would not be having this discussion.
Exactly which ‘Southampton guest property’ was robbed? Was it one of the hotels? Are we allowed to know?
One day when everyone is exhausted and tired of crying for a solution we will accept what everyone knows needs to be done. CHOP THEIR HANDS OFF! Until then, have more sympathy for the perpetrator than the victim and wallow in your high pseudo-morality by giving a slap on the wrists. Ta ta
Bermudians need to start organizing. Get neighborhoods to have every night or so some people go around and patrol the streets. Good for your health and also keeps people vigilant. Look for stuff that is out of place. I know the police force cannot be everywhere at the same time. You guys have to do that in order to keep the island peaceful. I am not recommending vigilante-ism but just patrolling to keep the scum bags on their heels.
I’m a big believer in punishment, stop this stupid talk about prison being for rehabilitation. These people know exactly what they are doing. Punish them for their transgressions and humiliate them to the public.
