‘Found To Be In Possession Of A Firearm’

After he was seen riding a motorcycle in an “erratic” manner, a man was stopped, arrested for an outstanding warrant and “during a subsequent search, the suspect was found to be in possession of a firearm,” the police have confirmed.

A police spokesperson said, “At approximately 6:00pm on Saturday 31st July 2021, police officers were regulating the flow of traffic during the Somerset Cricket Club celebratory motorcade.

The police said that as “the motorcade arrived at the St. George’s Cricket Club, police officer’s attention was drawn to a man riding a motorcycle” in an “erratic” manner on Wellington Slip Road, St. George.

“Officers stopped the man and issued him various moving violation tickets,” a police spokesperson said. “They attempted to arrest him for an outstanding warrant. However, he violently resisted and the officers deployed their Taser to subdue him.

“During a subsequent search, the suspect was found to be in possession of a firearm. Officers seized the firearm for forensic examination and the suspect taken into police custody.

“Police are aware that a number of individuals recorded the incident on their mobile phones. We are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward and provide any footage obtained.

“We ask that anyone with information, contact Senior Investigating Officer, Acting Inspector, Jason Smith on 717-0864.

    What level of intelligence (or mindset) does it take to knowingly ride/drive around with outstanding warrants AND a gun in a way that attracts attention to yourself ?
    Two Bermudas !

    At least this is one less gun on the streets though. Now let’s see if the mandatory 25 year sentence is applied .. OK , I was just kidding .

      He was just very unlucky as the chances of getting stopped by police in Bermuda are about the same as spotting Haley’s comet…
