Travel Writer Raves About Tucker’s Point Hotel
A luxury travel writer has selected Bermuda’s Tucker’s Point Resort as a home-away-from-home for the holidays — saying even if her readers aren’t going to be home over the holiday season, they “can find solace in the kindness of people and embrace the new experiences you’re living”.
Melanie Nayer, an award-winning contributing travel editor to “The Huffington Post”, “The New York Daily News” and “The Boston Globe” among other publications, said the East End hotel is a sanctuary for her — one of the places that “ welcomed me with open arms this year, and made me feel at home when I walk through their front doors.”
“The life of a travel writer, while exciting, also brings with it some lonely moments. I made it to Bermuda this summer to experience the pink sands, blue waters and, to my surprise, the luxury of solitude,” she said in her latest on-line column for the “Huffington Post” [Nov.26]. Sitting on my balcony in Bermuda, with a Dark-n-Stormy in my hand, I watched the sunset while couples and families went about their night. It was a moment of reflection, and an opportunity for me to count my blessings. While alone, I felt very much at home.”
Earlier this year Ms Nader visited Bermuda for some Rest & Relaxation following a month-long marathon of work and said the Tucker’s Point Resort allowed her to recharge her depleted emotional batteries over the course of a long weekend: ”Tucker’s Point is known for its exclusivity, which is one reason celebrities (and people who think they are celebrities) stay here. The man who arrived shortly after I did was one of those people. None of us knew who he was, but he certainly did. Wearing all white linen from head to toe and hiding behind his Ray-Bans, this fine gentleman was clearly demanding of a little attention, and that’s exactly what he got. Despite the fact that the hotel didn’t know who he was, they treated him like royalty – the same way they treat all their guests.”
