Housley Joins Flagstone Lloyd’s Venture
Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings, S.A. announced today [Jan. 24] that effective February 1st and subject to UK Financial Services Authority approval, Richard Housley will become underwriting director of Flagstone Syndicate Management Limited (FSML), managers of Syndicate 1861 at Lloyd’s.
Established on the island in 2005, Flagstone reincorporated in Luxembourg last year but maintains its executive offices and an underwriting operation in Bermuda.
David Brown [pictured], the Bermuda-based CEO of Flagstone, commented “We are delighted to have someone of Richard’s calibre leading our Lloyd’s initiatives.
“Richard’s appointment reflects the importance we place on our Lloyd’s activities and our commitment to investing in and developing this area of our business.”
Mr. Housley joins FSML with 25 years experience in the industry. Since December 2009 he has worked on a number of new Lloyd’s ventures. Previously he was Chief Executive Officer of the specialty lines division at Bermuda-based Axis, having joined the company in 2002.
Mr. Housley will oversee the underwriting operations at Flagstone Syndicate Management Limited. Les Allen will continue as Active Underwriter.
