New Associates Join Trott & Duncan
Two new associates have joined Hamilton law firm Trott & Duncan, bringing a wide range of international expertise and experience to the Bermuda legal practice.
Lauren Sadler-Best is an associate in the litigation department specialising in all areas of civil and commercial litigation and arbitration including landlord and tenant law, division of property, land disputes, contractual claims including building contract claims, constitutional law and judicial review, debt recovery and personal injury claims.
Mrs. Sadler-Best has advised on disputes involving a wide array of legal issues including property rights, breach of contract, credit and banking practices, fraud and conspiracy to defraud, constructive and resulting trusts, undue influence, proprietary estoppel, private international law, family law and personal injury.
She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons) from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados in 2003. She completed her training in June 2005 at the Norman Manley Law School. Ms. Sadler-Best was called to the Jamaica Bar in November, 2005.
She continued her career in Jamaica where she practiced for nearly four years primarily in the areas of civil and commercial litigation and where she used her areas of expertise and commitment to service in assisting with the establishment and operation of a local community aid clinic.
Mrs. Sadler-Best subsequently joined Trott & Duncan in December, 2009.
Nicholas Johnson is a senior associate in the corporate department and specialises in banking, corporate, and corporate finance related work.
His practice includes advising on all aspects of corporate, banking, equity, and mergers and acquisitions, legal issues.
Mr. Johnson also has experience in securitisations, structured finance, and property finance, as well as acting as a director, non-executive director, and company secretary for trading companies and SPVs.
Mr. Johnson has worked as in-house counsel at WestLB, London, and in the Corporate Finance Department of Stephenson Harwood, London.
Mr. Johnson also has been referred to in “The Legal 500″ as a “corporate heavy-weight”.
Educated at Oxford University, Université Paris Sorbonne, the London School of Economics & Political Science and King’s College, London, Mr. Johnson specialises in such areas as debt funding, equity funding, corporate, international corporate structuring and offshore tax structuring.
