January 3, 2025 | 4 Comments

Bermuda Is Love announced the launch of the #GettoKnowBIL campaign, a “powerful movement aimed at reintroducing Bermuda Is Love [BIL] to the island community as both a vital grassroots community organization and a registered charity #1051.”

A spokesperson said, “Through this campaign, we invite the people of Bermuda to learn more about our mission, vision, and the essential work we do to build a more just, compassionate, and thriving community.

“Bermuda Is Love [BIL] stands for the fundamental belief that love, care, and mutual support can build a society where everyone’s basic needs are met and where all individuals are empowered to live fulfilling, dignified lives. We believe that human rights are non-negotiable, and it’s our collective responsibility to ensure that each person has access to these rights.

Our Ideology:

“At Bermuda Is Love, we are deeply committed to building a community of love and empathy, where basic needs like food, housing, clothing, education, healthcare, justice, and a healthy environment are guaranteed for all. We are a community-led organization focused on addressing the systemic issues that create inequality, and we believe that real change happens when we work together to ensure every individual has the resources and opportunities they deserve.

What We Do:

“Our work is driven by a holistic approach that centers on seven key pillars of human rights and well-being. Through the #GettoKnowBIL campaign, we will shine a light on these pillars and the ways in which we address them within our community:

  1. The Right to Food – Ensuring everyone has access to nourishing food and combating food insecurity.
  2. The Right to Housing – Advocating for affordable and secure housing for all members of our community.
  3. The Right to Clothing – Providing access to essential clothing and addressing issues of poverty.
  4. The Right to Education – Ensuring equitable access to education, empowering individuals with the tools they need to thrive.
  5. The Right to Healthcare – Ensuring every Bermudian has access to necessary healthcare, including mental health services.
  6. The Right to Justice – Advocating for a fair and just legal system that serves all people equally.
  7. The Right to a Healthy Environment – Promoting sustainability and environmental policies that protect our natural resources for future generations.

How We Make a Difference:

  • Building Community: We organize events, host discussions, and create spaces where people come together to support each other.
  • Raising Awareness: Through targeted campaigns, we help raise awareness of the urgent need for social change and action.
  • Meeting Basic Needs: Through our various programs, we provide immediate support to those facing challenges, including food distribution, clothing assistance, legal advice, and educational resources.
  • Advocacy and Working Groups: Our advocacy efforts are supported by seven working groups, each focused on one of the seven pillars of Bermuda Is Love. These groups actively work to address systemic issues, push for policies that uphold human rights, and engage with the public to advocate for change.

Join Us in Creating Change:

“The #GettoKnowBIL campaign invites everyone in Bermuda to get involved and make a difference. Whether through volunteering at one of our programs, attending an event, participating in a campaign, or joining a working group, your participation is vital to our collective success.

“We also encourage people to donate to Bermuda Is Love, as your contributions directly support the work we do in creating a just and compassionate society. There are many ways to get involved, and we believe that together, we can achieve a Bermuda where everyone’s basic needs are met, and where love and care for one another are at the heart of everything we do.

It all looks very professional and sounds good and is beautifully revealed with exciting activities. It does lean to the Maoist,Leninst,Marx philosophies, all of which failed…..Our closest neighbour Cuba failed with such policies. Everybody already has access to their rights, nobody is deprived of food and clothing, Healthcare, justice or a healthy environment when they unfold their arms and go to work like every member of their sit around do nothing but complain collective. This “love” group’s philosophy ignores the human mind which is increasingly saying why work when I can get financial assistance. Why pay rent when I can cry poverty and blame politicians and foreigners because I have no money after buying an expensive car or bike. We have these problems because we have lost respect and responsibility. There are about 10 groups who sit all day in Bermuda who tell you they are waiting for the Salvation Army truck, church programmes and individuals to feed them. Many have a written slip where to find food and many have a drug problem. So we, as hard working people, saving and respecting the law must now donate to a charity that is not stressing responsibility. In 5 years time the numbers will double because like Jinks they convinced him and others that they were entitled to food, health care etc and can sit along Front Street etc and contribute little because charities like this one and others will sustain their life style. Yet another effort but once again misses the target. If they want better models check Singapore and a few northern European countries.

“Everybody already has access to their rights”

No, that is not correct. At least, not in Bermuda.

“nobody is deprived of … justice or a healthy environment when they unfold their arms and go to work”

Sorry, that is not correct either. At least, not in Bermuda.

Your last name says it all. If you admitted whst I am saying is true you would have nothing to say. I think you sit with them daily and enjoy doing nothing but waiting for freebies.

Dear Troll who sometimes goes by the name “Ok”, please do not use my name to try to sow dissension.
