Bermuda Census: Last Day For Interviews
The Statistics Department said today [Feb. 28] the last day for households to be interviewed for the 2010 Census is March 31, 2011.
In an effort to complete Bermuda’s 2010 Census of Population and Housing, Bermudian and non-Bermudian residents who have not been interviewed to date can choose one of three options to complete household interviews.
1) You may call the Department of Statistics immediately at 297-7761 between 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to schedule an appointment for your telephone interview. Due to the large volume of calls the Department has received, please note that if you leave a voicemail message we will return your call as soon as possible.
2) You may visit the Census Interview Centre located on the Church Street level in the new Washington Mall, commencing tomorrow, Tuesday, March 1. No appointment is required! Census Interviewers will be available to conduct interviews until March 30th, Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
3) You may visit the Department of Statistics (CedarPark Centre, 48 Cedar Avenue, Hamilton) anytime from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., to be interviewed. In addition, you can visit the Department of Statistics on Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“If you refuse or neglect to provide census information, you are guilty of an offence and liable on conviction by a court to a fine of $1,000 in the first instance, and $1,000 each day the offence continues,” said the Statistics Department.

UM UM…How dey gonna fine me if dey don’t know how to find me?
This is absurd. 10 months to count a population of less than 70,000. Canada, which is 3 times at least the size of the US gets the job done in something like 2 weeks.
Th idiots will spend another year compiling the statistics presenting imformation which will be 2 years old when made public.
Bermuda truly is another world.
Maybe Canadians are better and more interested citizens. Maybe we, as Bermudians should, have just done what was necessary and it would have been done in shorter time. We are so worried about “foreigners”. Wouldn’t it have been nice to find out how many there are and where the actual problems fall? It’s always someone else’s fault.
Triangle, please keep in mind that the census is being completed by part time workers. If you want the process to run as swiftly as Canada, then why dont you and a bunch of your friends sign up to work.
There may have been better as well as more efficient results within a suitable time if there was a website that had the survey online…today Bermuda and the rest of the world is all about technology. GET WITH IT
