Three Bermudian cricket umpires passed their 2010 WICUA Exams with top marks, with James McKirdy receiving a score of 99%, Oscar Andrade passing with a score of 95% and Sean ‘Bobby’ Smith receiving 90%.
Mr. Reginald Pearman, President of the Bermuda Cricket Board stated, “On behalf of the BCB I would like to congratulate James McKirdy who received top marks (99%) followed closely by Oscar Andrade (95%) and Sean ‘Bobby’ Smith (90%) who passed their 2010 WICUA Oral and Practical Exam and are now fully qualified umpires. The BCB fully supports the BCUA Education Programme and we look forward to seeing more courses offered in 2011 and even more exposure for Bermuda Umpires at international competitions.”
In a statement released by the Bermuda Umpire’s Association they stated, “These outstanding results gave Bermuda a 100% pass mark of candidates taking the 2010 exam. Throughout the region there were 38 successful candidates out of 45 who took the exam. The success of Bermuda’s umpires is again testament to the strength of the BCUA’s umpiring education program headed by Training Officer and ICC Affiliates and Associate Panel Umpire, Roger Dill.”
