Open Mat Pair Claim Medals In Florida
Open Mat Bermuda athletes Sydney Mason and Michael Walsh secured bronze medals at the IBJJF Pan Championship at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida.
Mason earned her podium finish in the adult female heavyweight division, while Walsh placed third in the white belt master 4 male middleweight category.
Keegan Dyer recorded a submission victory in her first adult match in the female light-featherweight division, while Lonnie Bascome also impressed, winning his first black belt bout level in the master 3 male light division.
A total of 14 Bermuda athletes competed across a range of belt levels and weight classes, from white to black belt, in both adult and masters divisions.
Among the other competitors, Ishaan Rangta featured in the white belt adult male light-featherweight division, while Essantae Caines competed in the white belt adult male heavyweight category.
In the blue belt divisions, Ryan Hopkins took part in the adult male middleweight, Jahmali Bridgewater in the adult male heavyweight, and Noah Vieira in the adult male super-heavyweight.
Greg Maybury competed in the blue belt master 1 male middleweight division, with Ramazan Ramazanov entering the master 3 male medium-heavyweight category.
At purple belt level, Reina Maypa competed in the adult female light division, while James Adams featured in the master 2 male super-heavyweight.
Chris Regan also competed in the black belt master 4 male super-heavyweight division.
