Football: First & Premier Division Round Up

As storm force winds and cold temperatures brushed past the Island yesterday [Feb 20], a number of football games took place islandwide. In the First Division, Somerset Trojans and Robin Hood were the big winners of the day, with both teams walking away with 3-0 victories. In the Premier Division, winners included North Village Rams, Dandy Town Hornets, PHC Zebras, St. David’s and Devonshire Cougars.

First Division

Young Men Social Club 0 X’Road’s 1

  • After a scoreless first half at the Bernard Park, visiting X’Road’s got a goal from Coshan Evans as they defeated the Young Men Social Club 1 – 0.

Hamilton Parish 1 Wolves 1

  • At the Wellington Oval, Ryan Richardson scored for Hamilton Parish and Derek Brangman scored for Wolves as the two teams shared the points.

Somerset Trojans 3 Prospect United 0

  • At the Somerset Cricket Club, Walter Webb gave the Somerset Trojans the lead in the 19th minute, the lead was doubled in the 26th minute when Jahi Simmons scored from the penalty spot. Simmons struck again in the 35th minute as the home team defeated visiting Prospect United 3 – 0.

Robin Hood 3 Paget Lions 0

  • At the BAA Field, Neal Churchill gave the home team Robin Hood the lead in the 16th minute, Churchill doubled the lead in the 41st minute and when David Outerbridge scored in the 47th minute it gave the home team a 3 – 0 win over visiting Paget Lions.

Premier Division

North Village Rams 3 Boulevard Blazers 0

  • After a scoreless first half at the Bernard Park, the home team North Village Rams got goals from Tyrell Burgess, Jason Lee and Ralph Bean Jr. as they defeated the Boulevard Blazers 3 – 0.

St. George’s Colts 1 Dandy Town Hornets 4

  • At the Wellington Oval, Seoin Darrell scored twice to earn the Dandy Town Hornets a 4 – 1 win over the St. George’s Colts. Also finding the net for the visitors was Lashun Dill and Damon Ming, while David Signor scored for the home team.

Southampton Rangers 2 PHC Zebras 3

  • Antwan Russell gave the PHC Zebras the lead in the 6th minute against the Southampton Rangers at the Southampton Oval. Khamisi Lightbourne doubled the lead in the 32nd minute, before Aquino Grant made it 3 – 0 to the PHC Zebras with a goal in the 52nd minute, however the Southampton Rangers pulled a goal back in the 66th minute when Kemon Simmons scored, and then it was a one goal game when Jermaine Dill scored for the home team in the 80th minute, however they could not get the equalizer they were looking for.

Devonshire Colts 0 St. David’s 2

  • At the Police Field, St. David’s took the lead in the 89th minute when Angelo Cannonier scored and then in the 90th minute a strike from Fiqre Crockwell earned the visitors a 2 – 0 win over the Devonshire Colts.

Devonshire Cougars 3 Somerset Eagles 1

  • Shakir Smith gave the visiting Somerset Eagles the lead in the 30th minute, Kwame Steede equalized for the Devonshire Cougars six minutes later. Just before the half time break Kyjuan Franks scored a header from a corner to give the home team a 2 – 1 lead. Mark Steede scored the Devonshire Cougars third goal in the 90th minute as they came away with a 3 – 1 victory.
