Photos & Results: Sensei Roots Martial Arts
Martial arts fans enjoyed a couple of hours of nonstop action today [Feb 20] when Sensei Roots’ 16th Invitational Shiai returned to Pembroke Sunday School. Junior grandchampions for forms were Ty-Aron Pitcher in novice boys, Tomiko Douglas in intermediate boys, Shakena Frances in novice girls, Priya Phillips in intermediate girls and Kent Bean in black belt boys. Kent was second to Kaelin Cox in junior weapons.
Pictured below are judges McClaren Smith and Kent Simmons with intermediate girls finalists Priya Phillips, Jasmyn Renfroe, Alexis Trott and Monique Cordeiro.
In the adult divisions, Zenji Ingham was black belt forms grandchampion, and Reuben Bean weapons grandchampion. Mikiko Inoue placed first in women’s black belt forms with Andrea McKey in second place.

For sparring in competitive divisions winners were Kairo Morton in the boys 6/7 division, Anzar Talbot in boys 8/9, and Jomeko Mallory in boys 10-11. The school prize of $300 was won by Wing Lum Kung Fu, whose students accumulated the most points during the afternoon’s competition.
