Video & Photos: Waves, Wind & Kitesurfing
Waves are crashing along the North Shore this morning [Feb 20] as gale force winds pass the Island. In the Devonshire area – just outside Gravity Nightclub – sprays of water can be seen passing right over the road to the other side of the street.
The video below shows the same area in Devonshire, North Shore at 8am this morning:
For today’s forecast, the Bermuda Weather Service said: “Gales will continue for most of today as a post frontal trough passes our near north. A few showers will move south from the trough this afternoon. High pressure will briefly build on Monday, with more gales on Tuesday, this time ahead of a cold front expected to pass Tuesday night. Conditions are expected to be more settled for Wednesday and Thursday.”
“Winds increased to gale force with occasional storm force gusts last night…The models continue to be in great
agreement on the winds for today with an expected increase to 30-40 knots and continued gusts up to 50 knots….Once the axis passes, winds are expected to ease and will be below gale force after midnight,” said the Weather Service.
Yesterday kite surfers took advantage of the windy conditions at Shelly Bay Beach:
I was at Shelly Bay taking pictures of the guys out kite boarding as well. My pics are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/leemcarthur/sets/72157626095897604/
