Cricket: Bermuda Lose Practice Match in Dubai
Bermuda played UAE in a practice game in Dubai as part of their Training Camp prior to the start of the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 2 Tournament today [Mar.28], going down by 8 runs. Final score: UAE 251/9 Bermuda 243/8.
UAE won toss and opted to bat, they scored 251/9 from their allotted 50 overs. Arshad Ali was the top scorer with 76, Shamnin added 46 and Saqib Ali chipped in with 34. Malachi Jones led the bowling attack with figures of 3-35, while Dion Stovell had figures of 2-26 and Irving Romaine took 2-46.
In reply Bermuda came up eight runs short scoring 243/8, with Lionel Cann the top scorer with 73, Chris Foggo chipped in with 56 and Jason Anderson scored 28.
Bermuda’s next practice game vs UAE is scheduled to take place this coming Saturday [Apr.2]. The tour will take place from Friday 8 April – Friday 15 April and Bermuda will compete against UAE, Uganda, Hong Kong and Papa New Guinea. The bottom two teams will get relegated to Division 3 and the top four will stay in the ICC High Performance Programme.
