Photos & Video: Windreach Annual Walk & Roll
[Updated with video] This morning [Mar.26], at Clearwater Beach, Windreach held its 10th Annual Walk & Roll. WindReach is a fully accessible, inclusive facility which serves people with a wide range of physical and intellectual challenges and its mission to enrich the quality of lives of people with special needs.
A spokesperson said “The Walk & Roll event has become a major fundraising for WindReach but it is also a major calendar event for people with special needs and particularly for those who rely on wheelchairs for mobility. The event is not only for those who walk but also for those who roll. Individuals who use manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs or electric scooters are all invited to participate and anyone wishing to use bicycles, skate boards, rollerblades or roller-skates is welcome. The event, which is held each spring, is open to individuals of all ages, abilities and needs.”
“The fun 3km, 5km and 10km walks are in the scenic Cooper’s Island Reserve and participants will enjoy this beautiful, historic part of Bermuda while supporting the important community programmes that are carried out at WindReach”.
“As in years past Capital G and Oscar Mayers are the major sponsors of the event and many WindReach volunteers and supporters help to make Walk & Roll an outstanding annual event. Participants walk & roll for fitness, weight loss, healthy lifestyle or for a great time with friends but all contribute to the great cause of helping WindReach to fulfill its mission to enhance the quality of lives of people with special needs in Bermuda”.

Well done to all the participants!!! I had an awesome time!! I feel great right now not sure how I am going to feel in the morning..I got to see a part of the island that I have never seen in my life..there are some spectacular beaches past Clearwater and Turtle Beach. As your walking there is a point where you pass a beach on either side of you!! simply awesome!! and an added bonus..I got to see the whales….
Congratulations to all the sponsors, organizers, volunteers, participants, and ‘cheer leaders’ for such a successful and enjoyable 2011 event. WindReach’s contribution to the community is enormous and the people involved are indeed ‘special’ ! Keep up the good work !
