Fairmont: Environmental Training Session

Greenteampics 007Earlier this week representatives from Bermuda’s two Fairmont hotels completed a two day training session with the Bermuda Environmental Alliance. Held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess in the Princess Victoria room, it was attended by the “Green Team” members of the Fairmont Southampton and Fairmont Hamilton Princess; standing committees dedicated to supporting Fairmont Hotel & Resorts’ goal to minimize the company’s environmental impact on the planet.

Led by Founding Executive Director of the Bermuda Environmental Alliance Sangita Iyer, the training session was designed to raise awareness of the environmental challenges facing Bermuda and to facilitate the hotels in their development of strategies to minimize their impact on Bermuda’s environment. Participants had the opportunity to watch videos on the environmental challenges facing Bermuda, tours waste treatment and disposal sites and engage in discussions and strategy sessions to develop action plans for each hotel.

Director of Public Relations for the Fairmont Southampton Jamahl Simmons said, “The Fairmont brand has been universally recognized for its commitment to preserving the environment and for its innovative and progressive green policies and practices. We were open to the information provided by BEA and they have helped to open our collective eyes to the numerous opportunities available for our hotels to reduce the amount of waste that we produce and by extension preserve and improve Bermuda’s environment.”
