Three Charged With Growing Marijuana
Earlier today [Apr.20] in Magistrates Court, Andre Landy [54] Andre J. Landy [20] and Christopher Landy [21] were jointly charged with both possession of cannabis with intent to supply and cultivating cannabis.
In January of this year, Police officers searched a residence, and allegedly found multiple cannabis plants and hydroponic equipment. In addition, the three men were also charged with possession of drug equipment, namely a miniature blender.
All three defendants denied the charges, and received bail in the amount of $10,000. They will stand trial in August of this year.

How about putting as much effort into growing stuff people eat? The Bernuda government should legalize cannabis and they will see a huge downturn in crime. It wasn’t until the mid 1930′s that cannabis was outlawed in the States.

Hey Terry, hate to burst your bubble but I do not or have ever smoked the herb or imported the herb or think it is good for you. Alcohol which has more horrendous effects or a person’s mind is legal correct? So by that reasoning alone I say legalize weed which has a lot LESS detrimental effects on the person and generate tax dollars. Now take those tax dollars to help those with addictions. It makes me sick every time I still see people going to prison growing or possession of cannabis! You have people being punished with prison, a place were they are subjected to the same conditions as child molesters, rapists, attempted murderers & murders for being in possession of a PLANT, which is no more dangerous than cigarettes or alcohol. Law makers who promote this unjust law and Police and Judges who enforce it are immoral…

Well I hope your kids are doing better in school now, but you really can’t blame the cannabis for your boyfriends mental problems. My perspective is if he was having problems, he would have had them whether he smoked cannabis or not! Also, you should know that ‘pure’ cannabis would have unlikely harmed him, but if had smoked cannabis with traces of meth or heroin in it or some other harder drug, that would be the cause of his problems, NOT the cannabis.
Before you slam me for not knowing what it is to smoke weed, I am speaking from the point of view of a former regular smoker who has quit. I agree with I WANT TO GO HOME, my husband is addicted to weed and its ruining our family. Its not when he is high on weed, that’s when he is calm. But wait until he runs out and can’t get anymore, that’s when the problems start. Mental and verbal abuse, irritability, flying off the handle easy and he will spend his last dime on a joint instead paying his share of rent or bills. His dealer always gets paid first and on time while his family suffers. Many people self medicate themselves with weed instead of looking at the real problems in their behaviours and personalities. So, yes weed makes people all conscious and swell – are you there when its gone and the real person shows up?
maybe its you thats his problem. If he has to smoke to weed to be sane around you, then you need to look into the mirror and question yourself..lol. I once had am ex-gf and i would be more irritable around her when im sober..But after I smoked, i was much more humane..

The only reason it was deemed “bad” was because the Governments could not figure out a way to tax something that can be grown in your own home. Its a crock of BS……..Lets wake up, especially in Bermuda, and take something that a broad cross section of the country is indulging in and turn it into a poistive ie; revenue, tourism, commerce, take the criminal element away.

I work hard every day. I come home have a raw mind my business. I get caught with some weed go to prison and loose my job. I now have a criminal record cant get a job but still have bills that need to be paid or they will send me back to prison. If you don’t know let me tell you. Ever wondered what it is about our society that prohibits us and our legislators from having an intelligent and reasoned debate about the short and long term effects of criminalization of pot in Bermuda? These people were real farmers growing vegetables and raising livestock, someone please look into it, they just had to sell their heard just to put a vehicle on the road, not like they roll in a beamer either. What happens if I go into your yard and plant some pots and hoses and a few plants, what you loose your house and go to jail right? How do you plead?
